Our undergrad summer placement
Define has always welcomed opportunities to connect with and nurture new talent in the industry, and we’ve just said goodbye to our most recent undergrad, Alison, who spent the final few days of her summer placement on our study trip to Cambridge.
Perfectly pitched: A new state of the art pitch facility secured at the University of Bath
Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant full planning permission for the construction of the new floodlit pitch and a multi-use games area on 28th June, marking the first step in the implementation of the University’s Campus Masterplan that was prepared by Define and which has now been incorporated into the adopted Local Plan.
A milestone of educational successes
Celebrating planning successes is always important, perhaps more so at a time when there is much uncertainty within our industry. Gaining permission for the rebuilding of Yeoman Park Academy in Mansfield was also a significant milestone.
Town Park Opens at the Wixams
We are delighted to see that the Town Park at the Wixams in Bedfordshire is now constructed and fully open to the public. Define have been providing landscape architecture design services to master developer L&Q Estates for a number of years.

Define are pleased to announce that we have provided Landscape Design, LVIA and Green Belt appraisal services to support a planning application for Cala Homes and Brooklands College in Weybridge, Surrey.
Glasgow's Riverside Regeneration
We are delighted to announce that we have submitted detailed landscape proposals to support a planning application for the City Wharf scheme in Glasgow. The development will consist of 503 new residential apartments and 491 new student beds with over 4000sqft of new commercial space.

Bike park on track
We are really delighted that planning permission has been granted for Burlish Bike Park, a 16-acre woodland cycling facility on the northern edge of Stourport-on-Severn, that is currently being transformed by Open Trail.
The Future of Mobility Hubs
Read any article or publication of note in the industry at the moment and you will more than likely find an impressive diagram or illustration at the top of the page, showing how you’ll jump out of your electric car ready to be fully charged on your return and straight onto an e-scooter or e-bike for hire which you can take you to where you need to go. If you’re really lucky you’ll be able to hop on some autonomous e-helicopter thing that will deliver Amazon packages on its way.
Driving the University of Bath's ambitions
Bath and North East Somerset Council has now adopted its Local Plan Partial Update. The LPPU includes ambitious policies in relation to climate change and biodiversity net gain, but also a new policy that relates to the University of Baths’ Claverton Campus.
BCU Inspired Grad Show 2022
Myself and Kate had a fantastic time at the BCU Inspired Grad show this year, presenting our ongoing thesis projects. The night gave us a chance to celebrate the work of all BCU graduates from the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media.
Define's Platinum Jubilee Park Hosts Fusion Community Festival
To coincide with the opening of the Platinum Jubilee Park in Ebbsfleet, EDC and Cohesion Plus hosted the Fusion Community Arts Festival on 29th July 22. We were delighted to see our designs now a reality; and it was extra special to see the park being used like this by the local community. Hopefully there will be plenty more in the future!
Inspiration from Lisbon.
This summer Define went on our annual overseas study trip, which this year was Lisbon. Our study trips are a great way to find design inspiration, and learn about both new and old architectural, urban design and landscape.
Exploring Neighbourhood Hubs
During the last few years, the practice has been challenging our understanding of how to design for people, for activities and for moments; not just making spatial decisions for specific land uses, but understanding the components that need to be in place to empower the formation of successful communities.
Planning Permission Granted - Hawkhurst
Define, acting on behalf of Dandara Ltd, have achieved planning permission for 71 dwellings at Hawkhurst, Kent at appeal.
